the new year, what will it bring

Today is the first day of the new year, yet it bothers me that i know starting tommorrow the cycle of killing will begin again. Dogs & cats in shelters across this country that people just didnt have time for anymore, but the list of animals is more than just dogs and cats. its rabbits young kittens and pups, parrots, horses, if an animal has become a pet, then it has also become indanger of dying
when its new owner gets bored with it, what was the death toll for 2007 will america increase it this year, i can only hope that instead more americans will become aware of the problems facing our pets and there offspring, by raiseing the levels of awareness, and education in this country will we begin to make a difference, ,,,

WELCOME to my blogspot

Hello my name is larry and I am 48 yrs old, I want to start by saying that I am very passionate about animal rescue, I am not a fanatical animal rights follower, and i believe that animals and people enjoy life together. what really gets me going is the people in this world that buy certain animals out of impulse, like chinchillas or parrots because they are cute & fuzzy or they can talk, but because of these types of people there has become a great need for rescuers like myself that are species specific, and even those that are breed specific,, i feel after being involved in the rescue end of pet ownership that i have learned enough about both the animals i rescue and the people that both surrendered or in some cases abandoned them and also the people that adopt them, to start a blog spot to try and educate those willing to learn, and also to try and get some of you to volunteer a small bit of your time helping a rescue that is close to you.
I also would like to see more people get involved in animal welfare, and to become more aware of the problems that both pets and there owners are facing today, all to often horrifying stories are posted on the web, and in the news about animals being used as bait to train fighting dogs, one of the worst things i have ever seen was the barbaric way that chinchillas are killed just to use a small portion of there fur to make a chin coat, what most people do not realize is that these little animals are most times not even dead when there skin is ripped off of ther limp little bodies,
what is really amazing is that england saw how barbaric this practice was and that country banned the pelting industry completely,, like i said im not a fanatic but sometimes we need to draw the line as to what is an acceptable practice with our furred and feathered friends and what is completely unacceptable,, once again welcome to my little piece of the internet, stop back often as i am hoping that many of you will at least stop by and say hello,,,
